PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

       AlphaNet, Inc., President                                                                     1993 – Present

Through multiple-media production skills, the innovative integration of satellite communications technologies and wireless video technologies, provided Solo Journalist field reporting and production for expeditions to Mount Everest, the North Pole, Antarctica, the Titanic, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Siberia, Greenland, Africa, South and Central America.  For use in space and using cruise missile target-tracking methodologies, designed and built a specialized tracking system to steer a satellite antenna with an accuracy of 1 degree over 22,500 miles.  Developed and Trademarked GeoNavigator Interactive interface-template for use with emerging educational media.

 

SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 

·         NBC News/MSNBC, New York: Operation Iraqi Freedom, Embedded Journalist  with the United States Marine Corps- 3rd Marine Air Wing/365th Squadron and 1st Battalion, 4th Marines Infantry.  Transmitted live programming for 2 hours during  firefight for Al Khoot and during amphibious invasion of Baghdad.  Reported daily from within Baghdad with stories ranging from human interest to the search for  weapons of mass destruction.  Video available.

·         NBC News, New York: Special Projects Manager.  As a pioneer (since 1993) of Videophone over Satellite applications from remote locations, responsible for review, acquisition, research and design of new portable telecommunications technologies for news-related media, especially regarding breaking news events.

·         Yale University School of Medicine: Lecturer to the Section of Anatomy and Experimental Surgery, with an emphasis on Telemedical Applications.

·         Mt. Everest ’01, ‘00, ’99 & '98: For ABC, NBC and CBS, field produced and hosted live video transmissions and news stories from Mount Everest using custom-configured portable satellite terminals and proprietary video compression. 

·         Persian Gulf '98: For CNN International, transmitted live video from the USS Independence with prototype of proprietary tracking system.  Solved all RADAR/EMF associated problems for interference-free live video transmissions.

·         Mt. Everest ‘97: Team Leader for Telekom Malaysia’s technical team.  Designed wireless video system to successfully transmit live video from summit of Everest to Base Camp by bouncing the signal off of intermediary mountains in the Himalayan range.  Uplinked video to Malaysian television via satellite and streamed the live video into the Internet for a worldwide audience.

Production for natural history documentaries.  Filmed, recorded sound, developed storylines and sequences and handled logistics.  On-camera and post-production experience.  Negotiated corporate sponsorship of computer and satellite technologies, as well as expedition clothing.  Lived abroad in England and Namibia.

 

SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 

·    EMMY award from the National Academy of Arts & Sciences for National Geographic Television’s Survivors of the Skeleton Coast.

·    Designed applications for using Global Positioning Systems to survey and map areas containing endangered species.  Applications included sites in Namibia and Antarctica.

·    Designed Skeleton Coast Camera Jacket for the oldest outfitting company in the United States- Willis & Geiger, Outfitters.  They outfitted Teddy Roosevelt, Roald Amundsen, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Sir Edmund Hillary, the Flying Tigers and other legends of the 20th Century.
